Dr. Heather Fisher Steps in to Lead Village Virtual's Next Chapter

Village Virtual is proud to announce that Dr. Heather L. Fisher has joined as our new Chief Executive Officer.

A Thirty-Year Educator
Dr. Fisher steps into the role from our founder, Debi Crabtree, who built Village Virtual into the trusted partner so many of you know today. Debi is handing day-to-day leadership to Dr. Fisher and will remain involved with Village Virtual, confident she's passing the reins to someone who has spent her whole career proving that virtual learning works when it's done right.

Dr. Fisher brings 30 years of education experience to the role, most recently as the founding Principal of the Germantown Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) in Tennessee. She’s a Harvard Project Zero Fellow, a former Shelby County Teacher of the Year, and once represented more than 8,000 educators as President of the Shelby County Education Association.

A Shared Vision
"I built this company to make sure students had real options for how and where they learn," Debi shared. "I couldn't be more confident handing the next chapter to Heather. She has spent three decades proving that virtual learning works when it's done with real rigor and real care."

Dr. Fisher feels the same. "I've spent thirty years believing that kids learn best when the adults around them never stop learning either," she said. "That's exactly what drew me to Village Virtual, and it's what I'm bringing into this role: real rigor, real care, and a genuine commitment to listen before I lead."

What's Next
She means that literally. Over the next few months, Dr. Fisher will be visiting partner schools across the region to listen and learn before making any big changes.
